A woman has been arrested and remanded for assault.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) arrested her under suspicions of damaging property and engaging in violence, using a sharp weapon.
The Criminal Court remanded the woman, age 30 and native to Thimarafushi island of Thaa atoll for 15 days on Sunday.
Her remand order states that sufficient evidence has been presented to prove that she committed the alleged offence.
The submitted evidence includes an incident report.
Citing the suspect, an Investigation Officer (IO) revealed that she did not wish to appoint legal representation and that she went there to retrieve her mobile phone.
The IO also cited her having claimed that she did not engage in any violence.
However, the IO stated that a box cutter was found in her possession, and it is believed that the victim was attacked with it.
Further, the IO noted that the property at the location was also damaged.
The suspect has a criminal record.
