A large stash of alcohol in police custody which was confiscated during multiple different operations, has been destroyed.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the alcohol was destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police team and under the set legal procedure for it.

The institution revealed that the alcohol was destroyed in Dhoonidhoo island on Sunday.

They are among the many paraphernalia brought into the custody of the Drug Enforcement Department, in connection with different cases as well as alcohol bottles connected with incidents linked to operations by tourist police as well as Hulhumalé police.

Destroyed in Dhoonidhoo were 4,100 branded bottles, 743 PET bottles, 4,421 cans and 19 packaged alcohol.

Some of the other paraphernalia destroyed by police on Sunday include plastic bags, newspaper, newspaper packages and other types of bags.
