A man, who was arrested with more than five kilograms of drugs, has been remanded for a period of 15 days.

Arrested and remanded in connection with the case is Ibrahim Jamaal, 32.

Upon being presented to the court for his remand hearing after being arrested in connection with a drug bust, the suspect was remanded to judicial custody in a custodial jail.

The reason his remand has been ordered in the case has been cited as there has been sufficient evidence submitted against him, to prove that he had committed the crime including statements of the police officers who went to the scene of the crime, intelligence reports as well as scene of crime officers’ report.

The man's remand was described as necessary to protect community safety, as his release could pose a risk to the public.

The case pertains to the recovery of a hefty quantity of drugs.

The confiscated drugs were categorized as trafficking-level substances and the provisional weight of the narcotics was 5.54 kilograms.

The investigation officer also revealed that the alleged offence was a serious criminal offence, and that the suspect’s urine sample tested positive for AMP and OPI.

The statement goes on to read that the suspect was a drug addict and the items he was found in possession of were explained to the authorities, but he is to have denied that the substances belonged to him and said that he was tasked with delivering them somewhere.

When the police asserted that the drugs recovered at the time of the suspect’s arrest belonged to him, he is to have denied it and said that he was just tasked with “delivering” the drugs to someone else.
