Murdered writer Yameen Rasheed’s family has officially implored that the state involves reputable international investigators in the case.
Hussein Rasheed, the writer’s father, told the press after he had filed about 800 letters from well-wishers asking for said involvement, that it is imperative that experienced and impartial investigators be involved in the case.
Rasheed further said that the call to involve foreign parties in the investigation is primarily based on the manner in which similar cases had been dealt with previously by the police.
“The police told today that officers would dedicate 20 hours a day to this investigation and that they would soon yield results” he added.
Moreover, Rasheed said that he has scheduled an appointment with Ahmed Areef, the commissioner of police.
Yameen Rasheed was brutally stabbed to death on the 23rd of April at around 02:30 am.
Abdulla Nawaz, the police’s deputy commissioner had said at a press conference two days later that they have ascertained the identities of those that had carried out the killing, though the police announced earlier this week that the murderers had ‘changed their appearance’.
Police arrested a 25-year-old man on Monday and remanded him by 15 days in relation to the murder.
