A member has been appointed to the Elections Commission of Maldives (EC).
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih presented the Letter of Appointment to Ali Nashath, native to Feridhoo island of Alif Alif atoll, during a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Thursday morning.
Supreme Court Justice Dr. Azmiralda Zahir administered the oath of office to Nashath in the presence of President Solih, prior to awarding of his Letter of Appointment.
The appointment was made under Articles 167(a) and 168(b) of the Maldivian Constitution and in accordance with the stipulations emphasized in Section 4(a) of the “Elections Commission Act” (No. 8/2008).
The People’s Majlis approved to appoint Nashath for a second term at the Elections Commission, on Wednesday.
The approval was made after the parliament's independent institutions committee reviewed the name sent by the president to elect him for another term.
