Dark days ahead with President Yameen: Nizar
A bridge cannot guarantee justice for public
Councilors stripped of their powers

Hithadhoo South Constituency's parliamentarian Ali Nizar has warned that with President Yameen there were only dark days ahead for the nation.

Speaking in the rally held Sunday night in Madifushi, Ali Nizar said that the Government had no intention of empowering the public, guiding them to prosperity and peace and therefore, the public can only see dark days ahead with the President. He added that though the decentralized system of governance granted empowerment to the public, the Yameen administration had only abused it.

“Can bring political, social and religious freedom. Those in Male’ cannot understand the needs of this island. This system [decentralized system] had developed and thrived effectively. Why are they not advocating for this system? It’s not something President Yameen understands,” he said.

Noting that President Yameen did believe that the public must be aligned to a specific political ideology, Nizar said it was likely Yameen will not hesitate to change laws to his will. He added this was more likely in a scenario where PPM did not gain the majority.  Nizar said the nation faced dark days ahead with President Yameen.

“We face dark days with President Yameen. We cannot bring justice by creating a bridge. We will talk about rising prices of basic goods. We have to ensure that we achieve 2018 without President Yameen,” he said.
