A petition has been circulated in Maamigili Constituency calling for the release of their Parliamentarian, Qasim Ibrahim.

The petition was kick started in the campaign camp in Maamigili island in the constituency on Saturday.

It is to be circulated in the rest of the islands in the atoll.

Qasim was arrested on charges of bribery and attempting to overthrow the Government on the 20th of this month. The following day, he was set a remand of 15 days.

This was his second arrest on the same charges and set a remand of six days. He was released after High Court decreed that his arrest was on illegal grounds.
