The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has enough support to emerge victorious in the upcoming Local Council Elections, given adequate voter turnout, said party chair Hassan Latheef.
At a dining event in Hulhumalé on Friday night with candidates contesting the election, said no matter how much support they have garnered, the decision lies with the voters and what they chose on the final day.
“Not unlike examinations really, no matter how hard you study you will not get any results if you do not turn up for the exam, so I implore all supporters to come on voting day, only then can we be victorious” Latheef said.
The opposition party had galvanized its efforts for the council campaigns, which Latheef swore to do on upon his appointment to the position earlier this year.
He said the opposition candidates have enough support to win the election by a large margin.
The elections are slated for May 6th.
