Family of slain writer Yameen Rasheed has met international media and briefed them on the case.
Yameen’s father Hussain Rasheed briefed the media in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The press conference looked into Yameen’s history as a writer, his social media activism and his work to find his best friend, missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan. The family reiterated that an independent, impartial review of the case was necessary to find justice.
He added that Yameen was the recipient of many death threats, especially from extremist groups. Hussain Rasheed said that his son had filed the cases in Police to no avail.
Friends and family of the slain writer on Friday held a memorial event, calling for justice.
