MIFCO fixed control over rising stocks
Fishermen voiced their discontent

Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has begun to regulate the purchase of fish.

A statement released by the company stated that due to burgeoning fish stocks the company will be capping the purchases at 2.5 metric tons of fish per vessels.

Protests have flared up at the collection center at Kooddoo over the company’s decision.

While fishermen continue to protest over the change, a video had surfaced of an altercation between a fisherman and Fisheries Minister Dr. Mohamed Shayne over unfulfilled pledges to the fisheries sector.
