Former President Mohamed Nasheed says that Qasim Ibrahim is one of the first members to join Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and therefore, will do everything possible to free him.
In a tweet posted on Saturday, the MDP leader said that in 2001, when MDP was formed, Qasim was one of the first 42 signatories to the party.
In his tweet, Nasheed reaffirmed his support for the Parliamentarian who is currently in jail.
This is Qasim’s second arrest in the same month. His arrest on Thursday, was sanctioned by Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham. On Friday, Criminal Court set 15 days for his remand.
Prior to his arrest, Qasim’s phone was confiscated by Police.
