The government threatening employees in civil service is a growing concern across the country, said MP Mohamed Nazim.

MP Nazim said at a program on Raajje Television on Tuesday night that his colleagues in other constituencies have also observed that staff whose ideologies clash with that of the ruling party.

Nazim noted that due to the communal nature of most Maldivian families, having employees transferred in such a manner presents great difficulties to those dependent on them.

News of state employees facing intimidation and coercion into joining the ruling party have recently surfaced.
