Jumhooree Party (JP) Leader Qasim Ibrahim says that he is sure that he will be arrested before the no confidence motion on the Deputy Speaker of Parliament MP Moosa Manik.
The vote has been scheduled for Tuesday’s session of the Parliament.
Speaking at Wednesday night’s rally held in Kunooz, Qasim said that the cases against him are progressing at lightning speed, while other proven cases of corruption remain uninvestigated. Qasim said they were actually rewarded with better positions.
Qasim added that he can be jailed but the spirit of the reform movement cannot be halted or eliminated.
Police had conducted a five-day rush investigation on Qasim Ibrahim for having offered bribes to Parliamentarians and forwarded the case to Prosecutor General’s Office for prosecution. The Criminal Court had also slapped a month long travel ban on the Parliamentarian.
