Former Vice President Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has said that Maldives is “in crisis”.
The former President made the statement via twitter, adding that the ‘legitimacy’ of Monday’s no-confidence motion ‘is dubious’.
Jameel was removed from office through a no-confidence vote on July 21, 2015.

Jameels’ tweet came a few minutes before the no-confidence vote against parliament speaker Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed, which he survived with the votes of 48 lawmakers.
The 48 members who took part in the vote are representatives of the ruling coalition, as the opposition boycotted the vote, due to the decision to carry out a roll call vote.
Majlis, which began at 9 am, went into recess after 45 minutes with voting to be held at 1:30 pm. However, minutes after resuming, deputy parliament speaker MP Moosa Manik had to halt the session, due to protests inside the parliament chambers.
During the break, a number of lawmakers, in favor of the speaker’s no-confidence vote- were dismissed from the chambers.
The opposition coalition who had left the parliament building prior to the vote, told reporters that their work is not over, and that they 'will announce their next step soon'.
