Flu-ridden mother of cesarean section baby recovering: IGMH

The patient being treated for influenza, whose fetus had to be delivered through a caesarian section prematurely earlier this month, is recovering, the hospital said on Monday.

The India Gandhi Memorial Hospital said that she has been taken off the ventilator but is yet being treated at the hospital intensive care unit.

The infant is also in treatment at IGMH’s neonatal ICU.

IGMH had confirmed the emergency caesarian section on 15th March, adding that doctors were forced to deliver the fetus at around midnight.

While the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that the flu outbreak is now subsiding, a 29-year-old had succumbed to H1N1, making five fatalities since the outbreak was announced.
