Members of the ruling Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) Parliamentary Group are scheduled to “camp out” in Olhuveli Resort, just ahead of the no confidence motion on Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh.
Reliable sources have reported to RaajjeMV that the esteemed members will head off to the resort around 9 pm Sunday night and will arrive back to Male’ at 7 am Sunday morning, just in time for the parliament session.
The source reported that members were instructed, on Saturday night, to prepare for departure around 4.30 on Sunday evening.
PPM Parliamentary Group had claimed that the motion against Parliament Speaker will be defeated. The motion was put forward jointly by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Jumhooree Party (JP), Adhaalath Party (AP) and President Abdulla Yameen's faction of PPM. The partners of the motion have claimed they have already secured the required votes to push the motion successfully.
President Abdullah Yameen had instructed all MPs to remain in the country, three days ahead of the vote. He had also said the vote was not a vote just taken on Maseeh.
