The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has on Saturday revealed that the influenza outbreak alert is still at phase three, just as it had been when the outbreak was announced.
The World Health Organization (WHO) deems an outbreak to be phase three, which is a scale to define stages of transmissibility, if there a recurring cases of groups of people that display symptoms. However, it is not ‘community-level’ outbreak.
While the Education Ministry ordered that schools be opened, the HPA had advised caution and to take all the preventive measures that one can.
HPA’s daily report for Saturday revealed an additional death since Thursday and that 31 patients are currently hospitalized.
