Jumhooree Party (JP) has issued a three-line whip to vote in favor of the no confidence motion on Parliament Speaker Abdullah Maseeh.
The whip was issued in the Party’s council meeting held last night.
JP Secretary General Ahmed Sameer had confirmed the whip, adding that an instruction had been issued to the PG to vote in favor of the motion. Sameer said the members have noted in the meeting that the Parliament had become a “rubber stamp” for the Government and that reform has to be brought in order to address the issues facing the nation. He said the members had spoken on the importance of Parliament Speaker being pro-reform in order to facilitate the changes.
Sameer said the decision to advice PG on supporting the no confidence was arrived with the full vote of the 25-member committee.
In the PPM, MDP, JP and AP joint press conference held last week the parties said they had full confidence that the motion will be passed successfully.
