An expatriate has been arrested with a large stash of alcohol.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that officers patrolling the streets of Hulhumalé Phase I on Wednesday, stopped the man and searched him upon suspicious behavior.
The patrol officers confiscated 20 500ml bottles filled with suspected alcohol upon searching the backpack the suspect was carrying.
In another case, officers patrolling the streets of Hulhumalé Phase I on Thursday morning confiscated two pieces of cellophane filled with suspected narcotics, inside the hedges on the beachside.
No arrests were made in connection with the case.
Both cases are currently under further investigation at the Hulhumalé Phase I Police Station.
