Several individuals have been arrested in a drug operation conducted in Hulhumalé.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the operation stemmed from an intel report.
The operation was conducted jointly by officers of the Drug Enforcement Department (DED) and the Police Intelligence Unit on July 16.
Seven individuals were arrested as part of the court-ordered raids on two apartments in Hulhumalé as well as two vehicles.
The court warrant was issued following suspicious of drug peddling and trafficking attempts.
Drugs weighing a total of 1,085.71 grams were confiscated as part of the raids.
The suspects taken into police custody are all between the ages of 18 and 39 years.
Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for their remand hearing, all seven of the suspects were remanded for a period of 10 days.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
