The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives has strongly condemned the attacks on members of parliament for Feydhoo constituency Mohamed Nihad and Ibrahim Shareef.
The Commission is concerned about the prevalence of physical assault, defamation and hate speech in political disputes and differences of opinion.
The Commission reminds that these actions are also criminal offences.
HRCM called on the relevant authorities to investigate such cases and take action as soon as possible.
The Elections Commission (EC) has disclosed that more than 221,000 has cast their ballots so far.
