The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that international observers are present for Saturday's vote.

Voting is yet to commence in Noth-Henveiru constituency, and for the T07.1.1 ballot box in North Mahchangoalhi.
"The delay in commencing vote is caused by a shortage of ooficials, some officials who had guaranteed their presence is yet to arrive but we have sent vote boxes to all constituencies now" Elections Commission's member.
Composition of candidates contesting the elections based on their political alliegance:
Progressive Party of Maldives: 516
Maldivian Democratic Party: 469
Jumhooree Party: 93
Maldives Development Alliance: 43
Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party: 1
Independent Candidates: 252
The Civil Court delayed the local council elections by two months on the request of the President Abdulla Yameen's faction of the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), citing internal conflict. Postponed twice more, the council elections is to start at 8 am, and continue till 4 pm on Saturday.
A total of 422 ballot boxes have been placed, while there are 255,987 eligible voters.
