Maldives Police Service (MPS) has searched 410 vehicles in a traffic operation conducted in Addu City.
Police said that the 'Dhuveli Matha' traffic operation was carried out in all the island's in the city.
The 410 vehicles searched include; 108 four wheelers and 302 two wheelers.
Police said that owners of 18 vehicles had been subject to penalty for violating traffic regulations.
The purpose of the operation is to ensure road safety, with officers searching vehicles for the required documentations, and to penalize those that violate traffic regulations.
A similar operation was conducted in Addu City in June, with officers checking 315 vehicles and penalizing six.
There have been a number of serious accidents in the city's Link Road, with at least three accident related deaths this year alone.
