Reports have been circulating that Ahmed Mubeen is being considered for the position of Chairman of New Radiant Sports Club, the most successful football club in the Maldives.

The last person to hold the position of Chairman at New Radiant was Ahmed Wasif.

The position has been vacant since Wasif's resignation

New Radiant, currently in the second division, is in the works to hold their club elections soon.

RaajjeMV understands that those currently leading New Radiant are working to bring in Mubeen, who is also serving as the Managing Director of Regional Airports Company, as the club's new Chairman.

Mubeen has even shared a post on his Facebook account regarding this.

In the post, Mubeen wrote that he would put in his best efforts to bring New Radiant, the club with the most supporters in the Maldives, back to its former position and bring happiness to supporters once more.

Speaking to RaajjeMV, Mubeen said that efforts are being made to “rescue” New Radiant from its current situation.

However, he did not give a direct answer about becoming the club’s chairman.

He did however note that they are working to understand the current debt situation of the club and that they are working to bring back happier days for the club’s supporters.

Mubeen expressed confidence that with the ongoing work with those involved in the club's affairs, these efforts will be successful.

Mubeen is noted as someone who has been actively involved in New Radiant's work in the past.

Mubeen, who has also served as the MP for Bilehdhoo constituency in the 18th People's Majlis assembly, has worked with Wasif, who was the last Chairman of New Radiant.

It has been reported that senior officials of New Radiant are also working to bring Mubeen as the club's Chairman.

The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) suspended New Radiant in 2019.

Prior to the suspension, New Radiant submitted a signed petition, declaring no confidence in Bassam Adeel Jaleel, who was the President of FAM at the time.

Later, FAM suspended New Radiant, citing non-payment of salaries to the club's players.

Since then, New Radiant, working to return to the first division, has competed in the second division for the last two seasons.
