Families will be able to move in to flats before start of academic year: Muizz
Flats given to the most needy
Rigorous research carried out
No discrimination in awarding flats

Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizz says that families will be able to move into the 704 flats, recently constructed in Hulhumale’, before the start of the new academic year.

Speaking in the ceremony held to launch the Government’s housing scheme ‘Hiyaa’, Minister Muizz reflected on the start of this administration, highlighting on the aspirations for public. While the administration marks four years to assumption of power, Minister Muizz said every citizen attested to this fact.

Minister Muizz said the biggest pledge made by the President in his manifesto was a resolution to the issue of housing. This administration, he said, had adequately addressed this issue, with several hundred housing units established in various parts of the nation.

Referring to the 704 housing units created in Hulhumale’, Minister Muizz gave assurance that families will be able to move in prior to start of the new academic year. He said that his Ministry, Education Ministry and other agencies were coordinating to ensure this became a reality.

Minister Muizz also addressed the issue of transparency in awarding flats. He said the flats were given to those most deserving, denying any claims of corruption in awarding flats.

The Minister also said President Abdullah Yameen had managed to resolve the housing crisis faced by survivors of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami – a crisis which he said had languished for 10 years without any resolution.

This administration, he said, was sincere and was led by a sincere leader and therefore, there was no room for a different view to that of the President.
