Thursday's parliament sitting has been cancelled.
According to the parliament administration, the speaker had asked to inform that the next sitting will be held next week. No reason was given for the cancellation.
However, it was previously announced that a parliament sitting will be held on Thursday, with ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM)'s parliamentary group leader revealing the national budget for 2018 will be submitted on Thursday.
While the scheduled parliament sitting has been cancelled, PPM is planning to hold a special gathering on Thursday night.
While the last session of parliament for 2017 commenced in early October, parliament has convened only six times.
