Maduvvari Constituency MP Mohamed Ameeth says that even if current MP for Dhihdhoo seat Abdul Latheef ran against President Yameen, Latheef will claim the seat.
Speaking in the joint opposition rally in the island, MP Ameeth said that President Yameen had persisted in his tyrannical rule.
He commended citizens of Dhihdhoo for their commitment to reform movement. MP Ameeth further commended MP Latheef for his dedication as well.
‘President Yameen may think that MP Latheef had contested for the financial gains, for prestige or for power. No. The salary we earn as MPs is not a factor. We were not elected to simply stay in Parliament, earn a salary. We were elected to represent, raise voices of citizens. Latheef adhere to that. President Yameen had exercised his tyranny on public and then says there will be an election,’ MP Ameeth said.
He noted that President Yameen’s last visit to the island was during campaigns for PPM primaries. Adding that President Yameen was hesitant to visit the island, MP Ameeth said President Yameen should not anticipate that he will get votes from the island.
MP Ameeth said citizens must be prepared to free themselves from tyranny if they are ever to usher in real development.
