The ruling Progressive Party of Maldives has inaugurated another party camp, which was constructed with the efforts of the Housing Ministry’s staff.
Fourty of the ministry’s staff had also signed on to PPM at the inauguration event held on Monday night, where President Abdulla Yameen had been the chief guest.
In his speech, President Yameen thanked the ministry’s staff and Housing Minister Mohamed Muizzu himself, who the president said had taken the initiative to build the party camp – called ‘Fiyaathoshi Jagaha’.
Minister Muizzu also spoke at the event, where he commended his staff for supporting the ruling party and describing the party camp as a ‘win’ for PPM ahead of the presidential elections slated for 2018.
The party camp was constructed at the House Plaza premises in Maafannu ward of capital city Malé. When journalists approached the ruling party about an ongoing project to construct a party camp at the state-held premises, PPM’s deputy leader Abdul Raheem Abdulla had denied such a project.
Abdul Raheem Abdulla had been in the front seats of Monday night’s events, alongside the president, the party’s leadership, and the ministry’s other important guests.
