Less than a day after RaajjeMV reported that Inguraidhoo constituency MP Ibrahim Falaah had bought a 1,000 square feet land in the capital Malé City, he has retorted that he intends to buy a bigger one next year.
The deputy parliamentary group leader of the ruling party said that there "is no reason for anyone to be shocked" over him buying land in Malé, highlighting that he has been "making a living" since "way before becoming a parliamentarian".
"Those who know me well will say that I work hard for a living," he said.
Falaah said that he was the proud owner of two safari boats even before being elected as the Inguraidhoo constituency representative; one worth USD 1.5 million (around MVR 23 million) and the other worth USD 2 million (around MVR 30.8 million). He also said that he has a 4,000 square-foot land in his island, Innamaadhoo island of Raa atoll.
Noting that he has been working since he was 16, Falaah also boasted that he had received the National Youth Award from former President Mohamed Waheed.
The MP purchased the 1000 square feet land in the Maafannu district for just MVR 4,000,000, with the deal having been finalized last Thursday.
Falaah said that they began construction work just two days after.
"I am now thinking of buying 4,000 square feet land next year," said the MP, owner of Marine Design Maldives, one of the biggest boat builders in the country.
