Twelve hours have passed without electricity in the island of Olhuvelifushi in Lhaviyani Atoll.
Speaking to RaajjeTV a citizen of the island reported that they had sustained power outages over the past months, with no resolution to the issue.
The citizen added that citizens had to live without power for hours. Power went out in the island at 6am on Friday.
Citizens also reported that electricity issues rose due to poor upkeep of generators.
Fenaka Corporation, the state utilities corporation, was unreachable for a comment on the issues.
The present administration had pledged uninterrupted round the clock electricity for the entire nation as one of the flagship pledges in 2013 Presidential elections. However, they are yet to achieve that goal.
