Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has expressed his concern over the detention of his son Dhiggaru Constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon.
MP Faris on Wednesday marked 100 days to his detention.
He was arrested on charges of attempted bribery on July 18th. Criminal Court on the next day ordered that he be detained for the duration of investigation and trial on the Parliamentarian.
The former President, in his tweet, said that ‘keeping any person in arbitrary detention for a 100 days is pure tyranny’. Attached with the tweet is a photo of the Parliamentarian, inscribed with the statement that all MP Faris had done was raise his voice against injustices perpetrated by the Government.
