Addu tertiary hospital will beat Male’ in terms of service: Housing Minister
Hospital will be completed by June

Once completed, the tertiary hospital in Addu City will beat the ones in capital Male’ City in terms of service, says Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaking in the Yameen faction rally held in Addu City on Saturday night, under the banner ‘Afirinnah Thayyaara’, Dr. Muizz said that once completed, there will be many going from Male’ to Addu for medical treatment.

Dr. Muizzu assured the Hospital will be completed by next June.

The Hospital will be constructed after making major modifications to the Addu Equatorial Convention Center (ECC) and will be a 100-bed one.

A loan agreement was signed under the administration of former President Mohamed Nasheed in 2011 with Saudi Fund, to create a 100-bed hospital in Addu City. The agreement is a US$ 12.5 million (MVR 192.7 million) agreement.

An additional loan was secured for the project under the administration of his successor, Dr. Mohamed Waheed on 17th October 2012. A loan of US$ 8.4 million (MVR 129.5 million) was secured from OPEC Fund for Development (OFID).
