Dhiggaru constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon has been transferred back to Maafushi Prison, 10 days after being shifted to house arrest.
The parliamentarian was transferred to house arrest on 11th October, with the Maldives Correctional Services (MCS) saying he was temporarily released following renovations at Maafushi Prison.
MCS noted that he will be transferred back to prison once the work is complete.
Following Faris' transfer, his father and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom thanked President Abdulla Yameen for the temporary release.

Arrested over bribery allegations, the Criminal Court had, on July 19th, ordered to keep Faris in remand until the end of his trial.
The MP is also charged with identity theft, with a hearing scheduled for Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, Adhaalath Party leader Imran Abdulla was also transferred back to prison. He was shifted to house arrest on 21st September, following the birth of his son.
