Ali Niyaz and Ahmed Abdulla have secured their seats as the Maldivian Democratic Party’s deputy chairperson for administration and finance, respectively.
The party’s congress held ballots for said posts on Friday, and members cast their votes from 15:00 to 18:00.
Hussein ‘Andhun Hussein’ Shaheem and Ibrahim Waheed had competed against former MP Ahmed Abdulla, who won the seat for the party’s deputy chairperson of finance.
Ali Niyaz had confirmed his election to the seat for the party’s deputy chairperson of administration, having received more than 10 percent of the votes cast on Friday.
While the party announced interim results, they will reveal conclusive ones on Saturday. A total of 150 ballot boxes were placed all over the country.
