The Gender Ministry has held a sign language training program with the police, which is part of the two institutions’ ongoing series of collaborative programs.
54 of the ministry’s civil employees and 20 of the police’s investigation officers had participated in the ‘basic sign language training program’.
Aiminath Shifana, permanent secretary at the Gender Ministry, said that the program aims to develop the service they give to people with hearing impairment.
She said that the police and the ministry’s employees and social service workers had held a similar training program earlier this year as well.
The current sign language training is a 14-day program.
