Parliamentarians have been barred from entering the parliament premises ahead of speaker Abdulla Maseeh’s arrival.

A parliamentarian told RaajjeMV that security officials had asked them to remain outside the premises until speaker Maseeh has entered and taken his seat in parliament.

As the opposition declares that they will gear up to oust the speaker, security officials have installed a wooden platform, about five feet high, for Maseeh to be seated on.

The parliament had removed the 45-signature motion of no-confidence against Maseeh, although the opposition has said that they will not accept him at the helm of parliamentary sittings.

The premises is spread with an unprecedented amount of security officials.
