Former President Mohamed Nasheed has welcomed the measures taken by the European Union on the present Government of the Maldives and named those that need to be slapped with the travel ban.

He said that EU should start with Elections Commission (EC), head of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and Chief Justice.

While the opposition welcomed the EU resolution, the Government of Maldives continue to be defiant with the Ambassador to EU and Belgium Ahmed Shiaan calling the motion ‘non-binding’. He dismissed the motion, stating that the EU had always passed such motions and there was no serious issue with the Maldives.
