Bilehfahi island of Shaviyani Atoll has received access to electricity after a faulty generator again caused a power outage in the entire island on Wednesday.
Abdulla Ziyad, the chair of the island’s local government council, said that the generator had temporarily been repaired and power was restored at around 02:30 am on Thursday.
After a fire in the island’s power house destroyed its other generators, Bilehfahi has been entirely powered by a single generator.
The fire on 23rd September had razed the power house and Bilehfahi’s council has been trying to restore full power to the island since.
The island has a population of roughly 700 people.
