A seaplane of Maldivian, the national carrier, has crash landed.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) had confirmed the incident, adding the plane crash landed in Hulhule’ lagoon.

RaajjeMV understands that 14 were on board at the time of the incident, most of them were tourists from Niyama Resort. Some of the crew had sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Speaking to RaajjeMV Maldivian’s Managing Director Abdul Haris said the sea plane had crash landed after they had attempted to land in the sea. However, he said due to the weather, the crew had lost control of the plane and crash landed.

MNDF reported that they were active in the airport following the incident.

Aasandha, state medical insurance provider, said that a 24-year-old man was being treated in Hulhumale’ hospital but he had not sustained severe injuries.
