Parliament sessions to start on Monday, security beefed up
Sittings of last session must begin in first week of October
Usually a force of eight officers is tasked with security
In this session, the Parliament will deliberate on the national budget for next year and pass it

The last session of the Parliament sitting for this year is to commence on Monday, 9th October.

RaajjeMV understands that with the new session, additional 45 officers of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) will be employed as Parliament security.

Generally, around eight officers are in charge of security in the Parliament. However, with the recent disturbances in the Parliament, more officers had been deployed in security measures. Most of the officers were active on the Parliament floor.

A stage had been erected for Speaker Abdullah Maseeh for the new sessions. MNDF had been constructing the stage, as witnessed by several journalists of RaajjeTV. It is unclear how high the stage is, though the opposition MPs have claimed the stage is a 10 foot one.

In this session, the Parliament will deliberate on the national budget for next year and pass it.
