Parliament's government oversight committee, who met on Wednesday, has decided to obtain details of the winners of flats from the Minister of Housing, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The Minister is to provide the details to the Committee, before the 25th of September. The Committee is to reconvene as soon as the details are provided.
The Committee's discussion came after a heated discussion today, as the ruling party MPs noted that "all relevant institutions are investigating the matter," adding that "there is no point in the Parliament getting involved".
The opposition parliamentarians insisted on reviewing the matter, noting that "the public has lost confidence in the institutions".
While they had initially proposed to summon the housing minister to the Committee, it was later revised, asking to send details of the flat recipients before September 25.
The housing ministry's decision to publish only the 'form numbers' of flat winners had led to immense criticism from the public and opposition, who noted that there is room to question the procedures followed in choosing the winners.
