Former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has emphasized that true success in any team endeavor depends on collective effort and mutual trust among team members.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the “Better in Ba Futsal Fiesta”, the atoll’s most prominent futsal tournament, held in Eydhafushi island, Solih underscored that futsal is not a game won by individual brilliance alone. He noted that teamwork, unity and strong relationships within the team are essential elements of success.
Solih highlighted the significance of discipline and respect in sports, urging players to uphold mutual respect not only among teammates but also toward opposing players and coaches. He described these principles as key lessons that extend beyond the playing field and apply to everyday life.
He further noted that consistent practice, determination and confidence are critical factors in achieving success. According to him, winning a single match does not guarantee victory in the tournament, just as losing one does not mean the end of the competition. What matters, he said, is learning from mistakes and focusing on improvement after each game.
The “Better in Baa Futsal Fiesta” officially began on Wednesday, with the inaugural game played between the teams from Dhonfanu and Eydhafushi. The event was inaugurated by Solih himself, marking the start of what is expected to be a spirited and competitive tournament across Baa atoll.
