Security vehicle from president’s convoy involved in serious accident in Hulhudhoo

The incident raised concerns about presidential convoy safety protocols and deteriorating healthcare infrastructure in outer islands
Hulhudhoo Health Center's X-ray equipment was found non-functional for over three months

A serious traffic accident occurred in Hulhudhoo island of Seenu atoll on Wednesday afternoon involving a security vehicle from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s convoy.

The collision reportedly involved a car carrying a married couple and resulted in injuries to the woman passenger.

The injured woman was first taken to the Hulhudhoo Health Center for emergency treatment. However, due to the center’s non-functional X-ray equipment, which has reportedly been out of service for over three months, she was later transferred to Addu Equatorial Hospital for further medical care. Reports indicate that the man did not sustain any injuries.

Eyewitness reports indicate that, in addition to the presidential security vehicle, another car sustained damage in the accident.

The incident has raised questions about both the safety protocols surrounding the presidential convoy and the deteriorating state of healthcare infrastructure in outer islands. The lack of essential diagnostic equipment at Hulhudhoo Health Center once again underscores the government’s ongoing neglect of critical medical services in the region.
