RaajjeTV will host a 24-hour telethon to assist Rohingya Muslims, at a time when the group faces harsh treatment from the Burmese authorities and groups.
RaajjeTV management says the purpose of the telethon was to stand in solitude with fellow Muslims and condemn the harsh treatment meted to them by Burmese military.
The station’s Chief Operating Officer, Hussain Fiyaz Moosa said the channel took the initiative as the situation had reached inhumane levels. He said RaajjeTV had the largest audience and that the station saw this as part of their social responsibility. He added that those interested in the project can take part in the telethon.
The telethon will be held from 2.30pm on Friday, September 8th for a period of 24 hours.
Companies, organizers can apply to become partners of the telethon, while individuals can send in their contributions.
