The container labeled ‘explosive’ found on Dhigurah island of Alifu Dhaalu atoll was empty, the military has informed.

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) revealed this in a statement on Thursday, where information officers had highlighted that the state it was found in on the island was no longer dangerous.

The item was found on Dhigurah island on Thursday morning, and was reported to the MNDF at 11:15 am.

The MNDF said that they dispatched officers immediately, who have been active on the island since.
