Sunday’s hearing of the case raised against alleged sniper, hired to assassinate President Abdullah Yameen, has been canceled.
The hearings were held after a break of almost a year.
Sri Lankan national, Lahiru Madhushanka, was arrested on October 24,2015, for having planned the assassination.
He was detained at a prison in Dhoonidhoo island before the Prosecutor General’s (PG) office brought forth said charges against him.
The hearings were cancelled as Madhushanka’s translator could not be summoned to Court. His lawyer argued that as Madhushanka had been in detention for almost two years, he was well versed in Dhivehi and can carry out a conversation without the assistance of a translator.
No date had been set for the next hearing.
