The man who snatched a necklace from a woman on the streets of capital Malé City has confessed to the crime.
The case involves the snatching of a gold necklace from a woman riding a motorcycle on Alikileygefaanu Magu in Malé on December 19.

According to the court order, the person arrested in connection with the case has a criminal record.
It has also been determined that his arrest in connection with the case was carried out in accordance with procedures.

The video circulating on social media shows that the necklace was snatched by someone wearing a helmet.
Arrested in connection with the case is Hassan Isaam, 30.
When presented to the court, he revealed that he no longer had the necklace he had snatched.
However, he stated in court that he was ready to pay compensation for the necklace.
The court order further states that he has agreed to fully cooperate with the Investigating Officer.
The Criminal Court extended his detention period by an additional 15 days on Saturday.
The video shows a motorcycle approaching from behind the woman who is also riding a motorcycle, catching up to her before snatching her necklace. The thief then attempts to snatch the startled woman’s bag, but she breaks free and he proceeds to chase her for a brief moment before abandoning the attempt and fleeing on his motorcycle.
