Assistant Governor at the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), Neeza Imad has resigned after President Abdulla Yameen's decision to withdraw her name as Governor.
While the President had sent Neeza's name for parliament approval on 16th August, Ahmed Naseer was nominated on Sunday, after withdrawing her name.
Neeza said that she believes that her name was withdrawn "because the government does not have any faith in me".
"After 31 years of service, I have now learnt that the government does not have faith in me. The President's Office called before sending in my name, and before withdrawing as well. The fact that this has been done to me, despite being Assistant Governor, shows that the government has no faith in me, so I did not want to remain in that post," said Neeza.
She is also a member of MMA's board of directors.
After weeks of speculation, Dr. Azeema Adam resigned as Governor last Wednesday.
