Drugs have been confiscated during an operation conducted on an uninhabited island in Gaaf Alif atoll.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the operation stemmed from an intel report received by the Counter Narcotics Intelligence department regarding drugs being concealed in an uninhabited island.
The operation was conducted on Monday.
Substances believed to be drugs were found and taken into custody.
The operation was conducted jointly by the Villingili Police Station and the Counter Narcotics Intelligence department.
As part of the raid, officers found a rubber packet containing suspected narcotics upon searching the island.
The provisional weight of these substances is 163 grams.
No one has been arrested in connection with the case, yet.
However, further investigations are currently underway.
