An investigation is underway into grooming allegations pinned on a teacher.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they have launched an investigation into allegations against a teacher, suspected of attempting to groom students.

The police institution on Monday revealed that they received reports of the case on October 17.

The teacher accused in the case is a man employed as a teacher in an island in the South-Central Police Division including Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa and Laamu atolls.

The teacher is accused of speaking inappropriately with his students and attempting to groom them.

The case is being probed as a serious matter.

However, no further details have been disclosed by the authorities in connection with the case.

As cases involving minors are considered serious, police do not reveal the atoll or island of the victims to protect their identity.
